WEEK 11 - Development Process

They are many techniques are available in the Adobe Photoshops. It just a matter of the user/designer creativity to use it in a proper way. That is how active and self learner take place. All student independently have to explore details on how to use all the tools available. One of the most important techniques I used is a crop techniques. All the pictures have been applied to this techniques. This technique purposely to combine two or more picture to have a one nice picture. Others trick I used is duplicate layer and background layer. It is to avoid interruption to the layer so that ease for us to manage our work.

Filter also my popular tricks in order to get a nice effect to the picture. For example in my picture one (1), I used motion blur and noise filter to get some nice motion blur effect. For my picture two (2), I used pixelate, mosaic and also gausian blur filter. This kind of filters is to pixels the picture and illustrated many windows on single picture. To create the water color paints and rain effect in the picture four, I also used a filter technique. For example I used cut out filter and media filter (bluring the image)  to produce water color effect while again I used noise, gacusian, and another motion blur filter to produce a rain effect.

Next technique I usually used in this assignment is play with the blend mode to the layers. For example, I used color burn mode for picture one, overlay and multiply mode for picture two, pinlight and softlight mode to the picture three, and mode luminosity to picture four. I noticed when I play around with this blend mode, I can see  a nice transformation effect to each of the layer that have been applied. So effective technique and love to use it. Other than that I also play with color and used brush tool to get a nice effect to the picture. For example, I used colorized image technique to picture one and then using brush tool to paint the image in order to get natural skin color.

Last but not least technique that I applied to my last picture (picture five) is, I used plugin software. This is very useful tip in order to ease our job where its can minimise the steps to  produce an interesting picture effect. For this picture I try to use two different plugin software. There are Dither plugin and Niksoft plugin. This two plugin have a different function and features also different interface but combination of them produce very interesting impact to my picture.

WEEK 10 - Story of the picture

My theme is called ‘my Nurin’. This concept of photos really focusing on my two (2) kids. In malay Nurin means ‘cahaya’ and both of them like cahaya to me. This five picture will try to illustrated their feel and their journey together all this while and I would like to share it what I feel to them with them and everybody else. Each of the picture have their own characteristic and the name and they bring a lots of meaning to me as a their father. Bellow is the explanation for each of the picture:-

Picture 1 - Towards destination

In the picture, I’ll try to portrays  my two kids is walking together towards to the successful future. The eldest (Nurin Nabilah) is always be a guidance to her sisters (Nurin Izzati). They will try to grape as much as the can the useful knowledge and left behind the past to be as a valuable experience. In the picture also show how much love and cares between them together.  What ever,  if anything happen in the future, they will stick together to get through the challenges in order to achieve their journey and destiny. Like people said, “togetherness we strong, separation we loss”. That spirits show in the picture.

Picture 2 - Window of happiness

Kids happiness is the one of the many important criteria in a family. If they (kids) happy, it will bring the happiness to the whole of family. From this picture I can see how sincere of them to that moments. It realize me that kids need loves from their parents and we should protect them and give them a full of support to continue their happiness. Makes them fill that we always with them in what matter happened. When I looked back to this picture, its remind me back when I was young before with my sisters. Kids life its very fun and so important to them to develop as a true kids in the right track. Let them explorer all their interesting life so that when they getting older they will appreciate to what has happened during their small and adapt it to their kids later.

           

Picture 3 - Dare To Touch

Looks cute but do you dare to touch it. That’s the question I try to through in  this picture. I try to visualize the picture of my kids on the cracked wall where the wall represent how hard the character of Nurin Izzati, but sometimes be careful her heart also easy to be break. Always seen she happy and smile but sometimes she can become very cold. At this moment she showed the serious character and as her parent to the kid at this age, we must sensitive to our kids need and always give the attention to them. They are in the learning process and it is our job to analyse their behaviour.

This picture shows how closed my nurin to her mama. Sometimes most of the parent overlook their kids feelings. One of the important feeling is ‘Miss Their Parent’. We can see their character/behaviour when their miss to their mama, for example in this picture my Nurin try to call her mama but she didn’t know how to do it. What she can do it just wait and see the telephone. Perhaps her mama call her. Rain effect on the picture is try to illustrated how much she miss her mama at the moment.

Picture 5 – In search of

My Nurin is still young and valuable to me. Lot of things to happen in the future and we doesn’t know what it is. But as a young kid what they can do is perhaps and look a guidance from their parent. Many things they need in order to get through in this challenging life. For example, love, caring and attention from peoples around them. That’s why this picture I name it as ‘in search of’ because they always look something, new things, new information and knowledge but still under parent control as a guidance. That’s why this picture try to be more focuses to the eyes where my cute Nurin  in the process of looking or searching on somethings.

WEEK 07 - Proposal - Paper Title and Structure of Content

Hi Dr Neo Mai. As part of the journey, everyone are require to have one (1) topic to discuss and produce a short write up to fullfil the 2nd assignment.

Many things they need in order to get through in this challenging life. For example, love, caring and attention from peoples around them. WEEK 03 - Photoshops Tutorial

Tutorial 1:

PHOTO RETOURCHING

This is our first photoshop tutorial in this class. We are given two picture (picture of boats on the sea and Picture of clouds). Dr Mai teach us how to touch the original picture in order to improve the colour and improve the image. Also in this tutorial Dr Mai show us how to crop the image and merge it together. All the steps to do that are provided to the students.

Tutorial 2:

LAYER BASIC

Some of the technique we use in this tutorial is call gradient. Consist a few of pictures and then combine them into one (1). Just play around with the layer and the features.  All the steps to do that are provided to the students.

Conclusion:

After the class i got some new tehniques that I didn't know how to do it before. There are, technique how to replicate object using stamp tools and how to increase color using sponge technique. So interesting to me.

WEEK01 - My Album Theme and my thought about Technology, Multimedia and New Media

My theme for my first assignment (album ) is call "my Nurin" - It is all about my kids. Nurin means 'Cahaya' in Malay Language.

NEW MEDIA MEAN TO YOU?

TECHNOLOGY

My initial thought:

Technology is a facilities or methods that we always uses to help our daily activities to achieve a good result or solve our problem. It can be a technique, systems, tools etc.

From wikipedia:

Technology is the usage and knowledge of tools, techniques, crafts, systems or methods of organization in order to solve a problem or serve some purpose.

Technology can be viewed as an activity that forms or changes culture.[11] Additionally, technology is the application of math, science, and the arts for the benefit of life as it is known. A modern example is the rise of communication technology, which has lessened barriers to human interaction and, as a result, has helped spawn new subcultures; the rise of cyberculture has, at its basis, the development of the Internet and the computer.[12] Not all technology enhances culture in a creative way; technology can also help facilitate political oppression and war via tools such as guns. As a cultural activity, technology predates both science and engineering, each of which formalize some aspects of technological endeavor.

MULTIMEDIA

My initial thought:

It is a terms that represent a various media/content that consist of combination of different/multi type of content and device (format and tools)

Multimedia is media and content that uses a combination of different content forms. The term can be used as a noun (a medium with multiple content forms) or as an adjective describing a medium as having multiple content forms. The term is used in contrast to media which only use traditional forms of printed or hand-produced material. Multimedia includes a combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content forms.

Multimedia is usually recorded and played, displayed or accessed by information content processing devices, such as computerized and electronic devices, but can also be part of a live performance. Multimedia (as an adjective) also describes electronic media devices used to store and experience multimedia content. Multimedia is distinguished from mixed media in fine art; by including audio, for example, it has a broader scope. The term "rich media" is synonymous for interactive multimedia. Hypermedia can be considered one particular multimedia application.

NEW MEDIA

My initial thought:

Leverage the existing technology to the advance concept to ease sharing and collaboration in real time.

New media is a broad term in Media Studies that emerged in the later part of the 20th century to encompass the amalgamation of traditional media such as film, images, music, spoken and written word, with the interactive power of computer and communications technology, computer-enabled consumer devices and most importantly the Internet. There are many promises related to the term. For example, new media holds out a possibility of on-demand access to content any time, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content. Another important promise of New Media is the "democratization" of the creation, publishing, distribution and consumption of media content. What distinguishes new media from traditional media is the digitizing of content into bits. There is also a dynamic aspect of content production which can be done in real time.

Thus, a high-definition digital television broadcast of a film viewed on a digital plasma TV is still an example of traditional media, while an "analog" paper poster of a local rock band that contains a web address where fans can find information and digital music downloads is an example of New media communication.[citation needed]
